Purchasing a home is a huge investment, so here are some tips to do it the right way. By following these tips you can make buying a home less stressful and have the whole process progress smoothly and quickly.

  • Seek Professional Help I know that with all the technology out there and the internet, most of you think that this can be an easy breezy process. Buying a home would be your largest investment that you will make in your lifetime. There are so many things that can go wrong in a real estate transaction, and by having professional help you can be assured that your transaction will go smoothly. You do not have to pay a buyers agent, with that being said choose an agent that will represent your interest, not the interest of the seller. Choose an agent that is knowledgeable in the area that you are searching and one that returns your calls and texts the same day.
  • Get Pre-Approved Do you know what this means? You need to know what you can afford to purchase? Go to your bank and speak with a lender. They can tell you realistically what your financing options are, and how much house you can afford to buy. Having this letter when making an offer just shows how serious you are about buying the sellers home. This should be done before you start searching for a home.
  • Get a Home Inspection – Before you buy any home please hire a licensed home inspector to inspect that home. If you are getting financing then this would be a must for the lender. Please do this even if you are purchasing a home without financing. There are things that can be hidden from plain view for example, plumbing issues, roof leakage, electrical and so much more.
  • Make a List – Always have a list of the things that are must haves when looking for a home. Example distance from work and school, pool or no pool etc. This will help you to pin down your dream home. You will have a general idea of exactly what you are looking for before you start hitting open houses. You don’t want to waste time looking at homes that does not have your must haves.
